Inclusive Teaching: Leveraging Diversity as a Resource

Inhalt
Description
This workshop provides university teaching staff and continuing education professionals with evidence-based strategies to create inclusive and equitable learning environments. Participants will explore the potential of diversity as a resource for enhancing student learning experiences and outcomes. The workshop combines theory, research, and practice, incorporating key concepts from inclusive pedagogy, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and intersectionality. Grounded in recent research (e.g., Meyer et al., 2014; Banks, 2016; hooks, 1994), this interactive experience emphasizes the critical role of instructors in shaping learning environments that value and empower all students.
Learning Goals
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
1. Understand core concepts of inclusive teaching, including Universal Design for Learning and intersectional approaches to diversity.
2. Identify and address barriers to participation and engagement in their teaching contexts.
3. Develop strategies to implement inclusive teaching practices that leverage the diversity of their student cohorts.
