Healthy and Motivating Teaching for Students and Lecturers with Focus on Break Design
Content
University life is usually characterised by long periods of sitting - for students as well as employees. This physical behaviour not only has an impact on physical and mental well-being, but also on cognitive abilities and motivation. The latter two in particular are though exactly what we wish from students in our lectures, as well as ourselves when at work.
In this workshop, the participants will learn about the implications of sedentariness and its correlations with health as well as cognitive abilities. The practical components of the workshop will introduce many simple solutions for the design of lectures or seminars - as well as one’s own workday. Integrated into the workshop as they would be into lectures, these solutions will be tried out and experienced, so that the participants are then able to create a plan for their own teachings. Between the two workshops days, this plan shall be carried out by the participants. In the second workshop day, we will then look at the experiences and potential hurdles, to analyse them and refine the plan, but also recap the most relevant learnings.
