“Decoding the Disciplines” is a process for increasing student learning by narrowing the gap between expert thinking and novice thinking (see http://decodingthedisciplines.org/). Inspired by this approach, this workshop will help participants to 1. identify discipline-specific bottlenecks in students’ conceptual understanding and 2. design relevant instructional interventions that support students so that they may master the uptake of difficult concepts in their respective disciplines.
